PRESENTER

Dr. Lori Best Hall has had a passion for caring for animals since she was a young child. While growing up, she volunteered her time at local humane societies before securing a job as a veterinary assistant at a small animal hospital. Dr. Best completed a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Microbiology and Veterinary Medicine along with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Arizona in 2007. She then went on to graduate with a DVM from Colorado State University in 2012. Dr. Best’s love for ophthalmology initially developed during veterinary school where she was drawn to both the medical and surgical aspects of managing animal eye disease in order to improve her patient’s vision and quality of life. To further pursue her career in ophthalmology, she completed a 1-year small animal surgical and medical rotating internship followed by a 3-year residency in comparative ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee. During her time at the University of Tennessee, she performed research studies in tear film biochemistry and normal blinking behavior in horses that have been published in the peer-reviewed American Journal of Veterinary Research. In 2017, she became board certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO).
