About Colorado’s Animal Heroes

This special awards ceremony was started in 2000 by CVMA’s Student Chapter in an effort to honor the outstanding contributions animals make to human lives and to celebrate the human-animal bond. Past year’s award recipients include dogs that have saved the lives of their owners; pets that, through the power of the human-animal bond, have healed and provided hope; and people who have profoundly dedicated their lives to making Colorado a better place for animals and people. This has also been a way to allow Colorado veterinarians to share in celebrating their patients’ accomplishments. Originally, awards were given at CVMA’s annual convention, but now Colorado’s Animal Heroes is a stand-alone event focused on celebrating the human-animal bond and raising money to make Colorado a better place for animals and people.
